asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will take into account the 18th recommendation of the Committee on Scottish Affairs on dampness in housing, supporting the recommendation of the Energy Committee that lead city schemes for combined heat and power district heating be put in hand, emphasising that Edinburgh has been shown to be one of the most attractive candidates for the provision of lead city; and if he will make a statement.

The 18th recommendation of the first report of the Committee on Scottish Affairs on dampness in housing will be taken into account in the Government's consideration of the reports on combined heat and power by the Select Committee on Energy and W S Atkins and Partners. A statement on the outcome of these deliberations will be made shortly.
