HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 c308W
Mr. Tinn

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give details of the rate support grant settlement for the careers service for 1984–85; and whether the settlement is intended to allow some growth in the service to allow it to meet its increasing commitments compared with 1983–84.

Mr. Peter Morrison

Of the £70.5 million shown for "Employment" in annex A of "Local Government Finance—The Rate Support Grant Report (England) 1984–85" (HC 151 1983–84) £51.6 million is allocated to the careers service, compared with £48–5 million for 1983–84. The figure was determined after consultation with local government representatives, taking account of known commitments.
