HC Deb 26 June 1984 vol 62 c379W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the current levels of remuneration paid to adjudicators and full-time officials of the Immigration Appeals Tribunal; how often these levels are reviewed; what are the daily fees paid to the part-time chairman and members of the Immigration Appeals Tribunal; and, in each case, how the levels of payments are fixed.

Mr. Brittan

The pay of the president and vice-president of the Immigration Appeals Tribunal is the same as that of the regional chairmen and chairmen of industrial tribunals, whose salaries are reviewed annually by the Top Salaries Review Body. The chief adjudicator and the adjudicator receive salaries set at 91.5 per cent. and 80.5 per cent. of the president's. The current annual rates of pay—from 1 April 1984—are:

£
President 29,870
Vice President 27,553
Chief Adjudicator 27,331
Adjudicator 24,135

The daily rates of pay of part-time officials are also linked to salaries set by the TSRB and are currently, from 1 January 1984:

£
Legal Chairman 110
Adjudicator 88
Lay Member 56

Support staffs for the tribunal are Civil Service grades and receive normal Civil Service salaries. The current annual rates of pay—from 1 April
