Mr. Boyes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many United States service men have been expelled from the United Kingdom for drug offences in 1984 to the latest date available; and how many United States service men have been arrested by the United Kingdom police forces for drug offences in each year from 1979 to the present.

In the first five months of 1984, no persons were deported having been convicted of drugs offences while serving in the United States forces in the United Kingdom. For information on the number proceeded against for drug offences, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a question from the hon. Member for Kingston upon Hull, North (Mr. McNamara), on 1 May 1984, at column 124. Corresponding information on the number of arrests is not available.
