§ Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will reply to the letter of 3 April sent to him by the hon. Member for Wentworth concerning the experience of a constituent who is a member of the National Union of Mineworkers;
(2) when he proposes to reply to the letter sent to him on 20 April by the hon. Member for Wentworth 220W concerning the experience of Mr. P. D. Willis of Rowmarsh, near Rotherham, a member of the National Union of Mineworkers;
(3) when he proposes to respond to the letter sent to him on 3 April by the hon. Member for Wentworth concerning the experience of Mr. K. Sanderson of West Mitton, near Rotherham, in connection with Mr. Sanderson's membership of the National Union of Mineworkers.
§ Mr. HurdI have asked the chief constables of Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire for such information as they may have about the incidents referred to, and I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as I have received and considered their reports.
§ Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list for letters received from hon. Members in the period (a) 1 January to 31 March 1983, (b) 1 April to 30 June 1983, (c) 1 January to 31 March 1984 and (d) 1 April 1984 to date, the average, longest and shortest time which elapsed before a reply was sent; and if he will break down the figures for the period from 1 April 1984 to date between letters relating to the coal mining industry and others.
