§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to increase the total allowable catch for haddock to the Scottish fishing industry to make up for earlier cutbacks of quotas in this species.
§ Mr. John MacKayThe total allowable catch and the United Kingdom quota for haddock in the North sea were agreed by the Council of Ministers in January. We are continuing to look for opportunities to increase the United Kingdom quota, either through a reassessment of the TAC or by transfer arrangements with other countries.
