§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many hours of overtime have been worked by employees in his Department in each of the last three years for which figures are available; and what was the total cost of this overtime work in each of those years.
§ Mr. HayhoeRecords of the number of hours of overtime worked by employees in my Department are readily available only for the financial year 1983–84, when they totalled 160,624. I regret that information on the number of hours worked in the other two years cannot be provided without a disproportionate expenditure of time and resources.
The total costs of overtime in each of the last three years are as follows:
