HC Deb 11 June 1984 vol 61 c341W
Mr. Mikardo

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many housing units are to be built in each enterprise zone in England.

Sir George

Young: Because planning permission is not generally required for housing in enterprise zones we do not know how many units are planned.

Mr. Mikardo

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether schemes that include housing development attract the same concessions as other forms of development in enterprise zones.

Sir George Young

Schemes in enterprise zones which include housing development are eligible for the full range of financial concessions only on the industrial and commercial elements in the schemes. Housing developments in enterprise zones are eligible only for exemption from development land tax.
