asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the identifiable public expenditure per head on roads and transport in Wales in the latest available year; and how this compares with the equivalent figure for the rest of the United Kingdom.

In 1982–83 public expenditure on roads and transport per head of population in Wales was £100. The comparable figures for England and Scotland were £68.1 and £92.9 respectively. Comparable figures for Northern Ireland are not available.
