HC Deb 31 July 1984 vol 65 c234W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services by how much the 10 top suppliers of pharmaceutical products to the National Health Service have been allowed to increase their profit margins through negotiated price increases over the past 12 months.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

From 1 August 1983 drug prices were reduced on average by 2.5 per cent. and were then frozen until 31 March 1984. Between 1 April and 31 July 1984 two of the top 10 suppliers to the National Health Service each received average price increases of 2.3 per cent.
