Mr. Hayhoe

Information on the quantities and values of imports is available inTrade and Navigation (for 1960), the Overseas Trade Account (for 1970) and the Overseas Trade Statistics (for 1980 to 1983). Copies of these publications are available in the Library of the House. There are as yet no figures for 1984 as a whole.

It is not possible to provide information on levies and duties in any more detail than was given in my reply to my hon. Friend of 4 July, at columns 150–52, which covered the years from 1966. The amounts of import duty charged in the year ending 31 March 1960 on the products referred to were as follows (levies were not introduced until 1964):

£ million
Dairy products 4.4
Meat including livestock for consumption 11.4
Cereals 1.2
