§ Mr. Coombsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the use of asbestos in domestic heating systems installed in many post-war council houses, he will advise local authorities on means of dealing with such asbestos and on the funding of such action.
§ Sir George YoungGeneral advice on asbestos in heating systems is given in the Department's booklet "Asbestos Materials in Buildings", copies of which were sent to local authorities in August 1983. The need for more detailed advice is under consideration. Local authorities will need to accommodate any necessary work within the resources available to them.
