HC Deb 25 July 1984 vol 64 c704W
66. Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations he has made to the Zimbabwe Government about payment of pensions and release of assets to expatriates now living in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Rifkind

We continue to take every opportunity to point out to the Zimbabwean authorities the difficulties which the controls are causing, particularly for elderly emigrants and people on low fixed incomes. We have received assurances that Zimbabwe is prepared to give sympathetic consideration to cases of genuine hardship.

We are not aware of any problems over the payment of pensions.
