§ Mr. Nichollsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will report on the efforts made by Her Majesty's Government and partners in the European Economic Community concerning treatment of the Baha'i sect by the Iranian Government.
§ Mr. LuceWe and our European partners have made clear to the Iranian authorities our deep concern at the plight of the Baha'i community in Iran. We, and the other members of the European Community on the Commission of Human Rights, voted for the resolution on human rights violations in Iran (co-sponsored by the United Kingdom) which was adopted on 14 March. This resolution specifically mentioned the Baha'is. We have continued our efforts, together with our partners in the Ten, to stress upon the Iranian Government the need to behave according to internationally accepted standards in this respect.
