§ Mr. Leightonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what were the results of the 33 prosecutions connected with racial attacks brought by police in the London borough of Newham during the 12 months to 14 November 1983.
§ Mr. Hurd[pursuant to his reply, 13 June 1984, c. 478]: I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the information requested for prosecutions connected with racial incidents in the London borough of Newham is not collated centrally nor locally. The requested information is given in the following table and has been obtained by a detailed search of local records. During the preparation of this information the total number of prosecutions given in my reply of 18 November 1983 at column 494 was found to be incorrect; the revised figure is given in the following table.
