HL Deb 23 July 1984 vol 455 cc152-3WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What payment is made to prisoners transferred from one of the dispersal prisons under the provisions of Circular Instruction 10/74 in lieu of earnings, and whether governors of the local prisons to which they are transferred have any discretion to vary the amount.

Lord Elton

Prisoners transferred in these circumstances are, at the outset, normally paid the basic flat rate (current 116p per week). Governors may authorise a reduction of this sum for breaches of discipline.
