Mr. John

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the cost of production of leaflets, documents and other Government publications by his Department in (a) Welsh, (b) Gaelic and (c) foreign languages used in Britain, for distribution and use in the United Kingdom.

There are six leaflets and 10 forms currently produced in the Welsh language. Printing costs were £1,464.46.

A leaflet and claim form for supplementary benefit has been published in Gaelic. Printing costs including VAT were £833.75.

Although there are plans to publish the leaflet "Which Benefit" in five Asian languages and Chinese, this project has not yet been fully costed.
