Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many locally recruited employees at (a) the United Kingdom embassy in Tel Aviv and (b) the consulate general in Jerusalem, respectively, have (i) Israeli, (ii) British, (iii) Jordanian or (iv) the nationality of some other middle eastern state.

Of the 35 locally recruited staff at the British embassy in Tel Aviv, 33 have Israeli and 11 British nationality (10 members of staff have dual nationality). The remaining member of staff has American nationality. There are no members of Staff with the nationality of either Jordan or any other middle eastern state.

There are 15 locally recruited staff at the consulate-general in Jerusalem. Seven of them have British and 13 Jordanian nationality (six are dual nationals). One member of staff is an Israeli national. The six dual nationals are all Palestinians, who have acquired British citizenship by registration.
