§ Mrs. ChalkerEstimated costs of non-fatal injury accidents on motorways in 1982 are:
(a) Night time: £9,930 per serious accident £1,900 per slight accident £4,420 per non-fatal injury accident; (b) Day time: £10,240 per serious accident £1,900 per slight accident £4,100 per non-fatal injury accident. Provisional estimates for 1983 are:
(a) Night time: £11,590 per serious accident £2,020 per slight accident £4,870 per non-fatal injury accident; (b) Day time: £10,980 per serious accident £2,020 per slight accident £4,250 per non-fatal injury accident. These estimates comprise resource costs and an allowance for pain, grief and suffering.
Cost estimates for non-injury accidents (which involve only damage to property and a small element of police and administration cost) do not distinguish between night and day time. The estimated cost per damage only accident on motorways is £670 for 1982 and £710 for 1983.
