§ Mr. BrookeDetailed information prior to 1982 is not available, but my right hon. Friend receives an annual submission from the NUS on the level of student awards for the coming year. The NUS has also made representations since 1982 on: methods of paying student awards and travel costs; accommodation; overseas students; disbled students; the planning of higher education; and the financing of student unions. A submission from the Federation of Conservative Students was received in 1983 about student awards rates and conditions for the academic year 1984–85. Communications about student unions were also received from the federation in the period in question.
