asked the Secretary of State for Transport why he is allowing British Rail to continue using, for up to three years, 2,900 passenger units and coaches containing harmful forms of asbestos.

British Rail is progressively eliminating all remaining asbestos from rolling stock over this period. This timetable for asbestos removal was agreed between BR and the rail unions.
