HC Deb 04 July 1984 vol 63 c147W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether any circulars have been issued by his Department to area health authorities and educational authorities in Wales about a domiciliary physiotherapy service, a school physiotherapy service and a community physiotherapy service in each area.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The responsibility for the provision of physiotherapy services in the community in Wales rests with individual district health authorities. A Welsh Office circular drawing attention to a study entitled "Physiotherapy in the Community" was issued to health authorities in June 1978.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will undertake throughout Wales a detailed survey of the availability of domiciliary and community-based physiotherapy services, including their availability within health centres, residential homes and schools, so as to establish any weaknesses in provision.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

No, but I shall study the results of the inquiry referred to by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Security in his written answer to the hon. Gentleman on 13 June, at column515, and consider their implications for Wales.
