HC Deb 02 July 1984 vol 63 cc79-80W
Mrs. Beckett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his latest estimate of the number of people whose supplementary benefit records are still in existence and who are owed money as a result of wrongful voluntary unemployment deductions.

Dr. Boyson

[pursuant to his reply, 25 June 1984, c. 357]: The latest estimate is that 16,000 people, whose records are still in existence, may be due refunds of voluntary unemployment deductions. This estimate must be treated with caution because of the very small sample of cases on which some of the most important assumptions involved are based.
