HC Deb 02 July 1984 vol 63 c57W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will now consider paying industrial disease benefit for cases in which emphysema is diagnosed as a sole diagnosis, and not dependent upon other associated respiratory pathology, such as chronic bronchitis and dust diseases of the lungs.

Mr. Newton

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council intends to carry out an investigation into emphysema in 1985. The case for adding this condition to the schedule of prescribed industrial diseases will be considered in the light of its report.
