§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will give the same level of support in real terms to the Commonwealth games in Edinburgh in 1986 as was given by the services in 1970.
§ Mr. StanleyThe services will support the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh so far as resources and operational commitments permit. But it is not possible to guarantee that this will be at the same level as in 1970 and this is understood by the organising committee.
