HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 cc662-3W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps Her Majesty's Government propose to take, either alone or together with other Western countries, to create or develop alternative funding of benefit to the poorest nations.

Mr. Raison

All donors to the International Development Association, other than the United States, have given a mandate to its management to explore possible ways of supplementing the seventh replinishment of the association's resources, which has recently been agreed at a level of only $9 billion. The matter is therefore under active consideration.
