HC Deb 24 January 1984 vol 52 c479W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will raise in the steering committee of the National Mobility Scheme the case of Mr. J. Pollard of 39 Lindfield Road, Reddish, who moved to take a job in Hove, but who now finds neither Hove nor Brighton council will offer him rehousing under the scheme.

Sir George Young

It is a matter for councils to decide whether and when to rehouse applicants under the national mobility scheme. The scheme is a voluntary arrangement between housing authorities, and the steering committee has no authority to intervene in individual cases.
