§ Mr. Rookerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many companies have been assessed by the Inland Revenue since 1980; and how many have paid corporation tax.
§ Mr. Moore[pursuant to his reply, 17 January 1984, c. 195]: Since 1980 approximately 550,000 assessments to corporation tax have been raised each year. There are about 250,000 companies which pay corporation tax in any one year.
