Mr. Ward

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when there will be a Government response to comments made on their Green Paper, Cmnd. 8093, "The Taxation of Husband and Wife".

Mr. Moore

The large number of wide-ranging responses to the Green Paper are still under consideration. No fundamental reforms will be introduced without giving Parliament and the public an opportunity to assess their detailed implications.
