Mr. Michael Forsyth

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many full-time and part-time staff will be employed in the energy efficiency office; and what will be the total salary budget.

Mr Peter Walker

There are at present 54 full-time staff working in the energy efficiency office whose salary consts on an annual basis amount to nearly £700,000. These staff are assisted on a part-time basis by a number of other staff in the Department of Energy. Some strengthening of the staff resources of the energy efficiency office is currently under review.

Mr. Michael Forsyth asked the Secretary of State for Energy, of the full-time staff in post in the energy efficiency office, how many at each grade hold (a) a university degree or equivalent, (b) a university degree or equivalent in a scientific or engineering discipline, (c) membership of the Institute of Energy and (d) chartered engineer status.
