§ Sir John Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list those airports in the United Kingdom which are not up to international and European scheduled service standards, but which are now used for scheduled short haul and feeder services to those larger airports.
§ Mr. David MitchellIt is not possible to construct such a list.
International and/or domestic services were operated from 52 aerodromes in the United Kingdom in 1982—latest statistics available. All aerodromes in the United Kingdom used by public transport aircraft have to be licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority. In assessing applications for licences, the authority uses criteria based on the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation for international airports, and it requires the appropriate scale of facilities to be provided whether or not international operations take place.
