asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will extend the Rochdale development area to include the two major industrial estates of Stakehill and Heywood.

The White Paper on regional industrial development (Cmnd. 9111) published on 13 December 1983 invites views by 31 May 1984 on a number of issues including assisted area coverage. The assisted area map will then be reviewed and it is thus too early to say how the review will affect particular parts of the country. My right hon. Friend has no plans to change the boundaries of the Rochdale development area in anticipation of the review.
