§ 22. Sir David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Transport what results have been achieved by the Government's extra publicity campaign against drunken driving over Christmas and the new year.
§ Mrs. ChalkerAs final figures are not yet available it is too soon to draw firm conclusions. However, preliminary reports from a number of police forces suggest that the campaign has resulted in greater public awareness of the danger of drinking and driving. This has been reflected in the relatively small number of drivers who have been over the legal limit and, in some cases, in a reduction in casualties.
§ Mr. Tim Smithasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the results of his Department's drink-drive campaign over the Christmas period.
§ Mrs. ChalkerI refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave today to my hon. Friend the Member for Eastleigh (Sir D. Price).
