asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will ensure that when steps are next taken to review development area boundaries in the county of Gwynedd the unemployment levels related to the borough boundaries are used and not the figures published on the basis of travel-to-work areas.

Mr. Trippier

The White Paper on regional industrial development (Cmnd. 9111) published on 13 December 1983 invites views on a number of issues including the criteria for designating assisted areas. No decisions will be taken on these issues until all the evidence has been carefully considered.
