asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was his response to the recommendations of the Electronic Economic Development Committee concerning the tariff on semiconductors.

In response to the recommendations from the electronics economic development committee about a reduction of the 17 per cent. Community tariff on semiconductors, I have asked my officials to begin discussions within the Community to achieve such a reduction.
