Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Prime Minister in which nationalised industries board members (a) have and (b) have not received salary increases for 1983; and, in each case where salary increases have not been paid, what are the reasons.

The Prime Minister

Board members have received salary increases for 1983 in the following industries:

  • British National Oil Corporation
  • British Steel Corporation
  • British Telecommunications
  • British Waterways Board
  • Water Authorities

In addition, Scottish Transport Group members have been notified this month of their 1983 increases.

For the following industries the Government are still considering proposals which have been made by the boards and will give their decisions as soon as possible:

  • British Airports Authority
  • British Airways Board
  • British Gas Corporation
  • British Rail
  • Central Electricity Generating Board
  • Civil Aviation Authority
  • Electricity Council
  • National Bus Company
  • North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board
  • Post Office
  • South of Scotland Electricity Board

No proposals have been made on behalf of the National Coal Board or British Shipbuilders.
