HC Deb 27 February 1984 vol 55 c77W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the number of households who would be lifted off (a) supplementary benefit, (b) housing benefit and (c) family income supplement if the household duties test were abolished; and if he will make a further statement.

Dr. Boyson

Using the same assumptions as in my reply to the right hon. Member on 15 February 1984—[Vol. 54, c.233–34.] — the estimated number of households receiving these benefits who would get NCIP if the household duties were abolished is as follows:

Number
(a) Supplementary benefit and certificated housing benefit 15,000
(b) Standard housing benefit 19,000
(c) FIS 2,500

It is not possible to estimate how many would be lifted off each of these benefits.
