HC Deb 24 February 1984 vol 54 c659W
Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the recent hunger strike at Wandsworth prison.

Mr. Hurd

On 28 January eight prisoners at Her Majesty's prison Wandsworth began to refuse food but not liquids. Two of the prisoners began taking food again on 29 January, one on 3 February, three on 5 February and the remaining two on 6 February. The medical officer saw each prisoner refusing food every day.
