§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe Government look to an independent specialist group, the Committee on Gynaecological Cytology, for advice on the age and frequency of cervical screening. The committee's most recent review of policy followed the publication, last year, of research linking cervical cancer and the use of oral contraceptives. The resulting policy was set out in my reply to the hon. Member for Crewe and Nantwich (Mrs. Dunwoody) on 31 October 1983, at columns293–94.
