HC Deb 24 February 1984 vol 54 c674W
Mr. Soames

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the parameters of the research programme he has instituted into the effects of acid deposition; and when he expects to receive the report of this programme.

Mr. Waldegrave

My Department's research programme covers all aspects of the acid deposition problem. It includes work on the physical and chemical processes in the atmosphere that lead to acid deposition and work on the effects on fish and freshwater biota, forests, crops, soils, materials and buildings. Most projects are planned to run for three years initially. There are annual and final reports on each project and research contractors are encouraged to publish the results of their work in the scientific literature.
