HC Deb 23 February 1984 vol 54 c621W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list his powers to revoke existing line and side road orders.

Mrs. Chalker

In the case of trunk roads section 10 of the Highways Act 1980 empowers the Secretary of State to revoke line orders, and Sections 14 and 326 together empower him to revoke side road orders. In the case of special roads Section 16 of the same Act empowers him to revoke line orders and Sections 18 and 326 together empower him to revoke side road orders.

Such revocations are accomplished by the making of revocation orders, which are subject to the same statutory procedures as line and side road orders, including the need to hold a public inquiry in certain circumstances.
