§ Mr. Austin Mitchell
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, further to the reply dated 16 December concerning the amount spent by the European Economic Community on information and publicity, Official Report column 595, whether this includes the amount spent by (a) the European Economic Community Assembly and the European Coal and Steel Community, respectively, and (b) the cost of staff, accommodation and all other overheads in the United Kingdom and on the continent, respectively, employed on information and publicity; and whether he will publish a breakdown of these figures in the Official Report.
§ Mr. Ian Stewart
The written reply given on 9 February in theOfficial Report at column 734–35 explained the coverage of the reply to the question answered on 16 December 1983. The costs of staff, accommodation and other overheads in the United Kingdom and other member states are not separately identified from the general administrative costs in the budgets of the European Community institutions referred to and so it is not possible to publish a breakdown of the figures.
