§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Attorney-General if he will consider amendments to the law to avoid the practice referred to as gazumping.
§ The Solicitor-GeneralIn its report on "Subject to Contract" agreements—Law Com. No. 65—which was published in 1975, the Law Commission concluded that the practice referred to lies very largely in the area in which reliance must be placed on social and moral restraints, and is outside the field proper to legal sanctions. It recommended against any change to the law and this has been accepted by successive Administrations.
