§ Mr. Ashdownasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make an up-to-date assessment of the state of negotiations on the revised European regional development fund regulations; and of what changes may be needed to harmonise future Community and United Kingdom regional policies.
§ Mr. TrippierThe Commission's revised proposals for amending the main European regional development fund regulation were produced last November. Community discussion of the proposals has started and the United Kingdom is taking an active part but these proposals could be subject to amendment, and it is too early to say what the outcome will be.
