Notice is given in theEstates Gazette, at a very early stage, of all areas of plantations in excess of 5 hectares and of smaller woods with a known conservation interest which the Forestry Commission is considering for disposal. Thereafter, open market sales are advertised in the local and—or national press.

§ Mr. John MacKayAt 21 January 1984 the Forestry Commission was in the process of selling 27 properties covered in whole or in part by sites of special scientific interest. The properties involved, which do not necessarily comprise complete SSSIs, include unplanted land as well as woods.
