Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how much the Government have spent on programmes to develop microprocessor training courses; and how many courses and training places have thereby been created.
§ Mr. ButcherUnder the microelectronics application project, since 1978 my Department has spent £6.1 million towards developing microelectronics training courses. I estimate that this has led to over 350 courses being on offer annually, resulting in approximately 30,000 training places.
