asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many times, since its inception, the small business guarantee scheme has had its guarantees called.

To 31 January 1984, 1,667 guarantee demands had been met by the Department, amounting to £42.2 million.

Mr. Soames

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what is the total value of the guarantees currently outstanding under the small business guarantee scheme.

At the end of January 1984, a total of 13,549 guarantees had been issued in respect of £446.2 million of bank lending, and £42.2 million had been paid out on called guarantees.
