§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThe reply from my hon. Friend, the Member for Reading, East (Sir Vaughan) to my hon. Friend the Member for East Grinstead (Sir Johnson Smith) on 8 November 1982 — [Vol. 31, c.28–29] was publicised through a Departmental press notice that day. Its content was notified to trade associations, trade publications and individual importing, wholesaling and retailing companies known by officials to be supplying scented erasers at that time. The 19–25 November 1982 issue of the Department's publication "British Business" also carried the text of the press notice.
Trading standards officers in Derbyshire, Kent and Fife provided examples in December 1983 of smaller scented erasers being marketed in their areas again. Those from the Kent trading standards department were being marketed by a department store with branches nationwide.
