HC Deb 14 February 1984 vol 54 cc153-4W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will visit Liverpool to assess the effect of Government industrial policies in the area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

[pursuant to the reply, 10 February 1984, c. 818]: My right hon. Friend is well aware of the industrial situation in Liverpool and Merseyside generally. That is why the area has continued to benefit from special development area status, which, since May 1979, has provided some £210 million in regional industrial assistance to Merseyside.
