HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 c6W
Mr. Norman Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long it is anticipated that the scaffolding will remain erected outside New Scotland Yard; and against whom payment and compensation is being claimed for this work.

Mr. Hurd

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that it is not possible to say how long the protective fan which has been erected around the building for reasons of public safety, will need to remain in place; this depends on the outcome of legal proceedings brought by the Receiver for the Metropolitan police district against a number of parties involved in the design, planning and construction of the building and which are due to be heard in January 1985.
